On a sloping block, the elevation you can see from the street is almost never the one that costs money. Round the back, the same wall may drop a full storey to a lower yard, which turns a straightforward roll-and-cut into a set-up with trestles on uneven ground or a tower on levelling feet. The slope does something to the building too. Why do quotes on my house vary so much?
